Business Development – Medical Markets

Business Development Manager to serve as the medical sales subject matter expert and lead strategic efforts to grow sales and profits through the process of assessment, intelligence gathering, generating sales/leads, following up on and closing agreements..

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead in the communication of short and long-range strategic plans that align with the overall business, sales and marketing goals of the company 
  • Define markets and current products with large revenue potential 
  • Lead sales efforts to achieve sales targets in the assigned geography
  • Actively nurture and support strategic customer relationships and assisting with the negotiation of “win/win” outcomes
  • Interact with the Opportunity Development Group for pricing-to-market decisions for key programs and customers 
  • Manage current key customer accounts
  • Exemplify the MBM Principles 
  • Identify technology trends in markets that should be developed into Phillips Medisize strategic capabilities 
  • Share knowledge within Sales and Marketing Teams by assisting with on-site presentations and trade shows
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • BS degree in business marketing or engineering or equivalent experience and education 
  • Experience developing and closing agreements with new customers, markets and technologies
  • Strong technical background
  • Experience in B2B medical markets
  • Minimum of six (6) years of sales experience in the market segment / adjacent market segments
  • A strong knowledge of assigned market segment(s) and customer base (both existing and potential) in technology, developing trends and opportunities
  • Significant experience with developing new customers and programs
  • Experience with customer contract negotiations

Qualifications - Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated existing relationships with key executives in significant market segment companies
  • Excellent financial skills (totally understands P&L and balance sheet)
  • Understands and can articulate, in detail, market segments
  • Experience negotiating customer contracts with significant market segment companies
  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Strong working knowledge of assigned market segment(s) and customer base (both existing and potential) in technology, developing trends and opportunities
  • Personal & interpersonal skills, including, but not limited to, caring about others, integrity and trust, listening, humor, ethics and values
  • Ability to partner effectively (internally and externally) with personnel at all levels, particularly at top management levels / decision makers within the customer base
  • Strong and effective communication skills, including verbal, written, presentation and negotiation
  • Good judgment; showing strong business acumen, decision quality, intellectual horsepower, perspective, and problem solving
  • Ability and desire to be a catalyst for change
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Knowledge of injection molding, plastics/metal materials and associated processes
  • Ability to serve as a mentor
